Writing and Teaching

In addition to my UX work, I teach UXD at General Assembly's Boston Campus, and I write books on Drupal, design and UX.

General Assembly UX Design Course

General Assembly is an educational company out of New York that teaches startups, entrepreneurs and career-changers how to do design, development, business planning, and many other important skills. I've been teaching the UXD course in Boston (with my co-teacher, Emily Dunkle of MIT Technology Review) since the campus opened in 2012, and I also teach the UX Bootcamp and a course called Drupal for Designers.

Drupal for Designers: the Book

This book, which combines the first three Drupal for Designers guides with new and updated material, a more logical flow and better grammar, will be released in August of 2012. In it, I cover everything from planning and estimating projects to UX, visual design, theming and site building in Drupal. From O'Reilly:

Drupal for Designers: the Series

My second book project of 2011 consists of three separate guides for Drupal designers and solo site builders: Planning and Managing Drupal Projects (released September 2011), Design and Prototyping for Drupal (released December 2011) and Development Tricks for Designers (released Jan-Feb 2012).

The Definitive Guide to Drupal 7

Entirely too long in waiting, Drupal 7 is now here (and running this here site!). APress, publishers of Pro Drupal Development among other titles, contracted Ben Melançon of Agaric to write the Definitive Guide to Drupal 7. He tapped his friends in the Drupal community — experts in site development, theming, and various aspects of working with Drupal — to help him complete this Herculean task.
