Cooper Perkins
Cooper Perkins is a technology development firm that creates highly integrated electro-mechanical systems. Their projects have ranged from high end consumer products to an artistic lighting system for a city park. They needed their new website to accomplish three key goals: 1. It had to look terrific; 2. It had to be updateable by Cooper Perkins staff; 3. It needed to show the breadth and depth of the firm's projects and expertise in a way that spoke both to engineers who "get" the techie stuff they do, and marketing execs who tended to need more basic information.
Enter the zen kitchen, and a new website built on Drupal, a powerful open-source content management system. By using Drupal instead of straight HTML to create the Cooper Perkins website, the zen kitchen was able to create an easy, intuitive way to update the website's content (including customized templates to support different types of content), we were able to create a fool-proof system for keeping content consistent as new projects are added to the site's database.
As Cooper Perkins continues to grow, the zen kitchen has worked with them to create mini-sites for their incubator projects. For one of these, Sensible Garden, we also created a mini-site to publicize an article about the founder of the company (Dave Hoch) and the new product in Business Week.
